EDUCATIONAL EVENTS

MPI Pittsburgh offers chapter educational programs specifically geared to help advance each attendee's career, not just within the hospitality industry, but also within many different businesses.

Educational programs are typically held the first Wednesday of each month from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM and offer one, but often more, topic expert(s).  On occasion, times and dates will be altered so be sure to check the calendar of events regularly. In addition, the educational programs offer excellent networking opprtunities with hospitality industry professionals throughout Pittsburgh, as well as access to first-class venues in the region.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Throughout the year, the chapter offers various special events - some social and some a combination fun and education.  MPI Members have the opportunity to showcase their venues, products and services.

Disney Institute uses business insights and time-tested examples from Disney parks and resorts worldwide to provide relevant illustrations and engaging stories that help organizations develop the customer experience culture they are capable of delivering. Dee Byrne  

Dee began working for Disney in 1977 as a merchandise sales hostess on Main Street U.S.A. at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Dee also worked in WDWR Human Resource and, in 1989, joined the Euro Disney Opening Team as Manager.

 

Her sunset role with the Disney organization was as a leader in the creation of the Walt Disney World Human Resources Organization Development department. She was also a key member of the Disney team that developed and implemented the leadership culture known as "Performance Excellence."

In addition to her Disney experience, Dee has provided organizational development consultation services to many diverse companies (healthcare, education, not for profit, and small and large businesses) across the United States and abroad as Principal of the Byrnes Group. Dee’s company has provided executive coaching, project management, program design and facilitation, successfully since 1996.

Prior to starting a career with Disney, Dee attended Western Michigan University as an art major and received an honorable discharge from the United States Army after successfully completing a three-year assignment in Europe. Dee was assigned as part of a five-member team charged with designing, developing and delivering the first Europe-wide computer system for the United States Army.

Dee is a certified Professional in Human Resources, accredited by the Society for Human Resource Management and has delivered presentations on leadership, organizational effectiveness and change to executive teams and organizations across the United States.
